The Ajax MotionCam Outdoor is a wireless motion detector designed for outdoor use that features a built-in camera for visual alarm verification. It is a component of the Ajax security system and works in conjunction with a compatible hub like the Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus.
Key Features and Functionality
- Photo Verification: When a motion alarm is triggered, the built-in camera automatically captures a series of photos (as an animation in the app) to help users and monitoring stations quickly assess the situation and avoid false patrol dispatches. Photos are transmitted via the secure Wings radio protocol.
- False Alarm Prevention: The device uses two independent Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors and a two-step software algorithm called LISA to analyze signals and filter out interferences like sun glints, hot air streams, or animals up to 80 cm tall (when installed correctly).
- Weatherproof Design: The MotionCam Outdoor has an IP56-rated, weatherproof body and can operate in temperatures ranging from -25°C to +60°C (-13°F to 140°F). A protective hood is included to shield the sensors from rain and snow.
- Anti-Sabotage Protection: The detector features an anti-masking system to detect attempts to block its view (e.g., painting or covering the lens), a tamper alarm for detecting dismantling attempts, and encrypted communication to prevent hacking.
- Long-Range Communication: It uses the Jeweller radio protocol for transmitting alarms (in 0.15 seconds) and the Wings protocol for photos, with a communication range of up to 1,700 meters in open space.
- Battery Life: It operates for up to 3 years on pre-installed 4 x CR123A batteries.
