The Ajax MotionProtect Outdoor is a wireless outdoor motion detector designed to accurately identify human intruders while ignoring common causes of false alarms like animals and swaying plants. It uses a two-step signal analysis algorithm (LISA) and dual PIR sensors to achieve high detection accuracy.
Key Features
- False Alarm Prevention: The detector employs two independent Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors and the unique two-step LISA (LISA analyses the similarity) algorithm. An alarm is only raised if both sensors detect identical motion simultaneously, effectively filtering out triggers from pets (up to 80 cm tall), birds, insects, and environmental disturbances like wind-swayed bushes.
- Anti-Sabotage System: It includes an advanced anti-masking system that is active 24/7. This system detects attempts to block the detector’s view (e.g., painting over the lenses or placing an obstacle) and immediately raises an alarm. A tamper button also triggers an alarm if someone tries to dismount the device.
- Wireless Communication: The device uses Ajax’s proprietary Jeweller radio protocol, which provides secure, two-way communication with the Ajax hub over a range of up to 1,700 meters in open space. Alarms are delivered in less than 0.15 seconds.
- Durability and Power: The MotionProtect Outdoor has an IP55 protection rating, making it suitable for all weather conditions, with an operating temperature range of -25°C to +60°C. It operates for up to 5 years on the two pre-installed CR123A batteries, and also supports an optional external power supply (5–28 V DC).
- Easy Installation: Installation and configuration are done remotely via the Ajax mobile app by simply scanning a QR code. The detection distance is adjustable from 3 to 15 meters.
